Samsung was initially formed in 1938 by Lee Byung-Chull trading grocery items such as noodles to China and it's provinces. After the Korean war Lee expanded into the textile industry until he oversaw every facet of production, from raw material to end product in the 1970's. The industrialisation of Samsung enabled the company to expand their repertoire to other areas. Samsung had become a major Korean manufacturing company with their subsidiaries such as Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Shipbuilding and Samsung Precision Company whilst investing in other industries such as chemical production.
Samsung first entered the electronic industry in 1969 with several divisions. By the 1970's the first home electronic items were exported. The 1980's saw a major expansion of Samsung's electronic industry. Samsung was considered a leader in the technological world, particularly after the establishment of their Research and Development Institute. Today Samsung is one of the world's most trusted and largest produces of electronic devices such as televisions, tablets and batteries.
